It’s dark and grey outside so let me bring back some faded colours and the remembrance of a bright summer’s day some years ago.

Und jetzt mal was ganz anderes, nämlich meine mehr oder weniger heimliche Leidenschaft, die Hutmacherei. Leider komm ich normalerweise viel zu wenig dazu, hab mir aber jetzt mal einen Zeitraum von zwei bis drei Wochen eingeräumt, um zumindest einen Teil der Entwürfe, die schon seit langer Zeit in meinem Kopf herumschwirren auch verwirklichen zu können. Als kleinen Vorgeschmack gibts an dieser Stelle erstmal wieder was aus dem Archiv, den Anfang machen ein paar Herrenkappen.

And now to something completely different! Milliniery and hatmaking is my more or less secret passion. Usually I do not have enough time for this but now I’ve granted myself a timespan of two or three weeks to be able to realize some of the designs, that kept spinning in my head for quite some time now. As a little teaser again I’ll dig into my archives and show you some creations of the past years. Let’s start with men’s caps.

Handbemalter Opernmantel im Uchikake-Stil. Das gute Stück ist nun schon etliche Jahre alt, zuerst ein Test, wie so ein originaler Kimonoschitt funktionieren könnte. Allerdings befand ich dann, daß der glattschwarze Kimono trotz des lila Futters noch recht langweilig aussah und begann den Stoff zu bemalen. Zwei Wochen und einiges an Stoffarbe später war ich dann schon recht zufrieden mit dem Ergebnis.

Handpainted uchikake-styled opera coat. This piece is now several years old, at first just a test to try out, how an original Kimono-pattern might work. But then I tought, that despite it’s purple lining the plain black Kimono still looked rather dull. Hence I started painting and here you can see the result of two weeks of work.
